The vital role of a Newsletter
Health and longevity is a quickly advancing field. We want to give you more than sound bites and fast moving technological insights upon which to formulate a health span strategy for your life. (FYI - lifespan is the number of years you’re alive. Health span is the portion of your lifespan that you maintain good health)
It’s equally important to us that we connect with people who MAY NOT be longevity enthusiasts, but are curious and want to learn what building a healthy lifestyle means for them.
While we’ll be doing deep dives on many health and wellness topics in this Newsletter - and one specific subject each week - we don’t want to leave you hanging on a couple of the questions we posed above (and we’ll be going in-depth on each of the other questions in future issues). So, here you go:
Longevity Hard Truths: When you retire, you need to have a plan for the future (to avoid sliding into complacency):

Have a garden: even if you don’t eat out of the garden, it gives you a plan for the future or something that you’re working toward. It also keeps you moving, bending, lifting and pulling weeds (oh joy), all of which are good for your body
Stop abandoning your own health, your relationships and your own life to take care of a spouse
Lift weights: it increases bone density and builds muscle, which is critical to our ability to age slower (more about that in next weeks issue)
Don’t retire early, especially if you like your job. If you want something new, start a 2nd career or a hobby. Our brains as well as our bodies need regular exercise
Volunteer: you’ll stay engaged with people and stay active.
Why you should spend more time at the beach?

Being in the ocean is incredibly healthy. The magnesium chloride in the water is better than an epsom salts bath for your muscles. Being grounded with the ocean floor emits healing frequencies that reduce stress and inflammation. The sun exposes us to UV blue, red and infrared healing rays. To avoid sunburn, spend 15 minutes at a time in the sun and work your way up to 30 minutes in a day. Once you have a base tan, you can spend more time safely at the beach or your favorite outdoor locales.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
We’re all about investigating, studying and reporting on the latest findings in the health and longevity space. The number and caliber of medical practitioners, scientists, and health and aging experts reporting on ground-breaking discoveries is unprecedented. We’re learning more everyday about the science of the human body, alternative therapies for treating age-related diseases, and how to keep healthy people from losing their health and vitality as they grow older.
We follow the science, providing insights from highly respected thought leaders. In a field that is constantly changing and advancing, we take our role as critical appraisers of information, seriously.
At the same time, we acknowledge the role that less scientific indicators, such as our connections with friends and family, being in nature, meditation/prayer, and so much more, play in keeping us young and vibrant.
